Indian Fashion Blog: Food Review + Health Diaries

Indian Fashion Blog: Food Review +  Health Diaries

I have a thing for exploring new places and going out for culinary escapades. It is all about ordering right and eating clean to maintain a healthy living. I am very outgoing and I make sure it does not affect my fit lifestyle. I mean if you are hungry in the night you don't have to get down to chomping on your favorite bag of chips rather go for some nuts or plain yoghurt with whey protein. I beat my chocolate cravings with chocolate brownie quest bar or casein whey protein in chocolate flavor. I totally relish hot chocolate in the night with almond milk, unsweetened cocoa powder and stevia. Eating clean just makes me happy. When my eating habits go helter-skelter I just feel disgusted and bloated.
Don't take your body for granted. I say it is better to splurge on health than illness. Ok that is enough of me bantering. I am totally lazing around for the long weekend. Happy Republic day to all of you. XOXO.

Chocolate protein cake from Fitnessbakery for the Christmas. A perfect guilt free indulgence with 167 gms of protein and 45 gms net carbs.
Ingredients: almond flour, coconut flour, whey protein, stevia
Quick salad on the go from Gyros, Andheri, Mumbai. It came with decent portion.
I cannot get enough of these RAWpressery  juices.
The "Feel Good" salad with grilled chicken, feta, mixed seeds, spinach, barley, etc. at Bombay Salad Co in Bandra. I often get hankering for salads and grills. I don't need breakthrough flavors or over styled fusion food. Simple healthy food is all I need for a  smooth culinary journey.
Raw food bliss! Yummy grilled chicken with couscous. Make sure you check out this cozy eatery - Bombay Salad Co in Bandra, Mumbai.
Chicken in chilli basil at Facing East, Juhu
My new hair care range! Argan oil sulphate free shampoo and conditioner.

Instagram + Life in Pictures of Indian Fashion Blogger

Instagram + Life in Pictures of Indian Fashion Blogger

Well, I might not have time for shoots every time but I love taking selfies and mirror selfies on the go. There are some days when I am feeling down in the dumps and some days I am all preppy to get dressed and look like a million dollars. Sometimes I just want to be in PJs whole day and all I want is wifi, good food and my bed. Well, I am sure most of the girls are like this. There is always a social pressure being a fashion blogger that I need to be decked up all the time. However that really does not work for me as all my outfits have a story. It all depends on my mood and how I am feeling at that point of the day.
Here take a sneak peak at some of my selfies and what I wore. XOXO.

Forever 21 dress at NYE party at Aqaba, Lower Parel, Mumbai
I love my camouflage print shirt for a casual day out
A tube dress with leopard print from KAZO for a night out with my girls at Cafe Zoe, Mumbai, India
A floral top with a little tinge of blush and danglers for a road trip to Nashik. My last few days of December were the best days. I had a great time vacationing around.  Road trips to Nashik (3 hours from Mumbai) to see the Sula Vineyards and Alibag beach was a great experience. Nothing like vineyard tour and wine tasting. After all, I save my carbs for wine.
An off shoulder floral top that I teamed with burgundy jeggings and booties for an evening out.
And here you go! Me in beastmode and breaking a sweat session in the gym

Fashion Blogger Life: Health Diaries - Jiwa Cafe

Fashion Blogger Life: Health Diaries - Jiwa Cafe

There are plenty of tiny little eateries in Bandra but this little cute and cozy cafe next to Elbo Room is surely worth a visit. This interesting Roti Concept Café truly lives up to its reputation on healthy bandwagon.
It is so easy to eat clean. There is no such feeling better than looking good and feeling good about your body. It is rightly said you are what you eat. A slice of pizza wont hurt you but wont help your momentum either. It is all about repeating good habits.

The traditional 'Indian rotis' get a modern twist here. The founder Raghav introduced us to this concept. I was really enthralled with the techniques their flours are made. Spinach has to be dehydrated the right way. Oats are toasted  to bring out the nice nutty flavor. Check out more details on their website.

The menu is not that exhaustive but you can choose all the ingredients for your wrap. We tried the 'Missi' flour roti made of whole wheat, toasted wheat germ and sand puffed 'Bengal gram'. I tried paneer shazlik for protein and tofu paprika. If you are vegan and do not prefer dairy go for tofu paprika. There are wide range of healthy sauces like greek yogurt, mexican salsa, nutty peanut, pesto, hummus, asian wasabi, desk chutney, and hot sauce to choose from.
I can vouch for the taste and quality of the wraps. Gourmet rotis aka wraps are to die for and it can be customized the way you want. The fitness flour made of 'Sehari Sharbati' whole wheat, toasted oats, spinach powder, toasted soybeans and sea salt tasted nothing extraordinary unlike 'Missi' flour wrap.

Gourmet roti wrap with tofu as filling and greek yogurt and tomato salsa on the side
Missi flour (whole wheat, toasted wheatgerm and sand puffed bengal gram) wrap with paneer as filling and pesto and tomato salsa on the side.
Wide range of flours

Verdict: Jiwa Café strives to inspire a healthier lifestyle through healthy and nutritious food. If you looking for culinary experience like no other head to Jiwa Cafe for some healthy grub on the go or in between work.

 What I like?
- Not just a sham in the name of healthy food. It truly lives up to its name.
- One can indulge in a guilt free and fresh meal without burning a hole in the pocket.
- One must buy their nutritious wide range of flours. It is economically priced at 100 INR keeping in mind the common Indian household.  It is available everywhere in supermarkets and online retailers like 'Big Basket'.

What I didn't like?
- My only quibble is that they could have introduced non vegetarian food also but owner Raghav wanted to keep it a vegetarian place and not lose its vegan/vegetarian customers
- It is open for only 9 hours a day and is often overlooked by the people.
- To be precise they should mention the composition of the ingredients used in their flour.

Shopping experience with new ethnic wear - Maandna

Shopping experience with new ethnic wear - Maandna
Online retail therapy is such a comfort and so convenient. I am not much into Indian wear. If I wear Indian I usually like it elaborate. However once in a while you have to wear for daily chores or several special occasions like going to a Gurudwara or temple. I stumbled upon on this new brand on Flipkart. It offers simple cute kurtis which come in eclectic mix of colors and styles.

About Maandna
Maandna offers fresh range of apparels that give a youthful vibe. Comfortable and sleek silhouettes combined with peppy warm colors are carefully crafted with mirror work and kashida. All their embroideries are hand done by the desert artisans of Bikaner. Gold khadi print has been used in just the right proportion for that extra glitz. Pure cottons in their color fast hues will keep you at ease for hours.

What I like?
The collection is wearable and easy to carry.
A preppy and trendy take on Indian Wear.
It is young and high on functional quotient especially when tired of over the top festive clothing.

What I didn't like?
- The collection is new and more variety needs to be introduced.

Check out their collection here on Flipkart and start stalking.

Indian Fashion Blog: Look Of The Day - Feeling Blue

Indian Fashion Blog: Look Of The Day - Feeling Blue

Last day of the year and I had to hunker down to blog before I hit the gym and head out in the night. I moved to Mumbai this year and this maddening city has shown me the ways of world. You know this city has prepared you for the worst like a strict loving parent. Well, it was an amazing year with highs and lows. I completed my masters in fashion management from NIFT and started working. I plan to covet time for blogging as it has always been my intellectual and emotional nourishment. I might be wearing this ensemble for the New Years Eve tonight. What do you think?

I might not be able to covet time to blog everyday or I might not feel mellow enough to write. But I would love to share few snippets of my life because blogging is cathartic. It is last month of the year and perhaps my favorite month. Christmas is around the corner. There is so much to do in life. Places to travel, people to meet and live it up. What are your plans for Christmas and New Years Eve?. XOXO.
I love Christmas and all things christmasy
When little things in life are so comforting. Yummy spinach chicken for lunch. I try to follow a paleo lifestyle and cut down my carbs.
Carrie Bradshaw rightly said, "I save my carbs for wine. It is called priorities."
Wine tasting and wine pairing with Pause Wines
Happy girls are the prettiest and vice versa
Upcoming outfit post!
The only thing I will ever miss about Mumbai is running by the sea. After a long day in this maddening city it is the only thing that calms down my frazzled nerves and I get my endorphins.

Culinary Delights - The Deli Community Menu at Indigo Deli

Culinary Delights - The Deli Community Menu at Indigo Deli

A fun filled evening with my favorite bloggers and sumptuous healthy food is all I could ask for on a Monday after a long day. Indigo Deli has lived up to its reputation in terms of quality of food and is always swarming with people.
The new Deli Community menu has exhaustive options in menu catering to everyone be it healthier choices or gourmet desserts. A look through the menu reveals regular deli fare - interesting cocktails, soup of the day, salads, pizzas and mains that comprise pastas, risotto, fish and chips and grills.

I skipped the soup of the day option and was looking forward to dig into some salads. The salads however were too leafy for my liking and under dressed. I wish salads in India become more filling and worth the money.
While my taste buds intrigued and tummy famished I waited for my mains. Surely the star of the evening was onion crusted Norwegian Salmon with beans and chili oil that was executed to perfection. You can feel the goodness pervade your senses as it melts in your mouth. I gorged on some roasted chicken with grilled veggies. The roasted chicken was succulent and the portions were huge. One should know that eating out can be healthy too if you make the right choices as long as you don't let your guard down when it comes to sweet splurge.

If you have a sweet tooth you can finish your meal with platter of assorted desserts served with their most popular and rich homemade ice-creams. I was in no mood for a cheat meal on a Monday.
If you are a bunch of people make sure you walk into this place for a gastronomical fare.
Grilled chicken with roasted veggies

Mandatory picture of colorful veggies infused with herbs and spices
Unlimited portions - Roasted Chicken

Norwegian Salmon with fenugreek pilaf cooked to perfection
Grilled Vegetables and greens
Citrus Salad
Caesar Salad
Panzanella

Verdict:
If you look for a culinary experience with your group of friends or colleagues look no further than Indigo Deli. Eatery that enthralls with luxe ambience and divine food.

What I like?
- A perfect gourmet cuisine with an assorted variety of options that is pocket friendly at the same time. I think for the first time they have come up with such an option like this that includes unlimited portions for the table.
- I can say it without any qualms that food is worth every penny in terms of taste and quality.

What I don't like?
- I wish The Deli community menu was there on the weekends.
- The salads didn't live up to my expectations.

Cuisine: European, Continental, Cafe

Pocket PinchThe  Community Menu is priced at Rs 899 per person (taxes applicable)

Jus Divine Juices

Cold Pressed juices are not only healthier but more delicious as compared to regular blended juices. Fruits and vegetable lose out on many of their vitamins and enzymes when cut and ground in a traditional mixer or blender due to a process called ‘oxidation’ that results from the heat, static electricity and large amounts of air that is pulled in by the blender.

Why Cold Pressed JusDivine Juices?
  • Retains the natural flavour and colour of fruits and veggies.
  • Fruits and veggies won't oxidize or degrade during the process.
  • Nutrients are available in their purest, most original form, which makes it easy to digest.
  • More wholesome juices.
  • It's the closest you will come to pure fruit or vegetables.
  • Longer refrigeration time without nutritional degradation.

(Pineapple Carrot Ginger, Apple Pineapple Wheatgrass, Apple Beetroot Carrot)

I tried the three juices above and loved all three of them. You can make out it is all natural with the taste of fresh fruits and vegetables.

What I like?
- All natural juices with no water, sugar or artificial flavors.
- If detox is not your thing then include them in your daily diet. It is a perfect morning elixir.
- Very low in calories. Check website for complete nutritional value.

Pocket Pinch: 150 INR per 200 ml

Make sure you stalk them here. I also saw them in Golds Gym at Bandra.
