Spectacular
Dubai!
Dubai,
nestled in the Persian Gulf, is one of the most spectacular and
easily accessible places known for its modern architecture, nightlife
scene, luxury shopping, manmade islands and underwater hotels. It
is a cosmopolitan city and constitutes of local-born Emirates that
make up only 12% of the population.
Weekends
in Dubai begin from Thursday nights, so you should plan your visit
accordingly. One must experience the delectable culinary
delights and indulge in the lavish Dubai
hotels. Also,
do not miss the Friday brunch at some of the top-notch places such as
Bubblicious
at Westin
Hotel,
Al Qasr Hotel,Shangrila, etc.
Things
to strictly avoid in Dubai:
It
is imperative that you adhere to the cultural sensitivities and some
basic guidelines, so that you don't end up offending the people
there.
- It is completely a drug-free country. Don’t even think of taking any mind-altering substances which might be legal in other countries.
- Alcohol is served only at the licensed hotels, and you might end up going behind bars if you are caught drunk elsewhere.
- It might appear modern in terms of architecture, but nudity is strictly prohibited in public places. You may be fined for wearing inappropriate clothing on a beach; therefore, you should choose your attire in keeping with the rules addressed at their FCO website.
Things
to do
- Burj Khalifa, the 830-meter-tall iconic structure, dominates the Dubai skyline. It is an urban masterpiece, both in terms of its design and technology. You can experience the magnificent view of the city from the 134th floor, and it is recommended to book your visit a few days in advance.
- One must visit Atlantis, The Palm—a resort with water and parks.
- After gourmet meal at the top-end places, you should also experience mouth-watering delicacies at the eateries on Al Dhiyafah Road.
- Dubai is a paradise for shoppers. Do not miss the Dubai mall, which houses a 22-screen cinema, indoor theme park and a giant aquarium. You can also enjoy the Dubai Fountain, where the shows start at 6 pm.
- Visit the Burj Al Arab, the world’s only seven-star hotel.
- Take some time out to enjoy sightseeing, the desert safari, hot-air balloon flights, and other adventures.
(Honestly,
I have not been to Dubai yet, but I am planning to go there at the
end of this year, and I have been doing my research, so I thought of
sharing a post. I will continue with this series and blog about my
travel diaries too. I am already dreaming about the vacation. *sigh*)
