I was looking forward to the brunch with Femina Believe ever since I got the invitation.

Femina Believe, a learning academy that conducts workshops in make-up, personality development, communication skills and dining etiquette. From the basics of setting up a table for fancy dinner parties to mastering the art of eating with a chopstick, we have customized a workshop just for you!

Borrowing a leaf from the legacy of Femina & it’s connect with the modern Indian women, Femina Believe Personality Development Workshops conducts short intensive workshops in a variety of subjects.
Femina Believe launches a selection of short thorough workshops in subjects like:
  • Makeup: Empower yourself with techniques to overcome your self-consciousness and skillfully apply makeup for every occasion.
  • Styling: Understand the nuances of styling to make the right outfit choices based on various parameters.
  • Dining etiquette: Be assured to dazzle by learning the elements and characteristics of graceful dining.
  • Communication skills & body language: Nurture personal and professional relationships with the ability to project the right personality.
Nothing like coming home to such invitations - Brunch with Femina Believe

The highlights of the workshop were
- Understanding of formal and casual table setting.
- How to use chopsticks
- Table manners
- Tips and tricks
- Napkin Etiquette

Some of the quick tips are:
- The white wine glass is usually slimmer as you dont want too much air to get in and red wine has a broader glass.
- For a table setting basic rule of thumb is that all solids go on the left. Remember BMW - Breads, Main, Water.
- Pizza should be eaten by hand. I know most of us didn't know this.
- Avoid milk beverages post a meal in Italy. Go for espresso instead.
- In Japan and China, no tips are encouraged unlike US.
- Do not eat any rice based dish with the fork. Only use it to push the food onto the spoon.

The session ended with fun game about who puts the maximum number of peanuts in the bowl using chopsticks.
The workshop ended with a gourmet meal at Hakkassan in Bandra. The starters were mostly fried and didn't appeal me in terms of health quotient. I relished some of the healthy dishes in main course.
It included: mix vegetables in Assam sauce, steamed Indian salmon in Thai Chlli Basil sauce and some of stir fry spicy lotus root with celery and black fungus. Of course I skipped the rice and noodles avoiding unnecessary carbs.
