Hair removal woes constantly nag all of us. Though shaving was never my thing as I have tried in emergency situations and hard growth post that is scary. I have always been a waxing person as it is very common in India. It might be painful but the traditional sugar wax exfoliates well and now there are many flavored waxes and Brazilian waxes for all parts of the body.
I had heard so much about Epilators but I was always reluctant to use it. You must have seen the new ads by Philips where Alia Bhatt is the brand ambassador. Philips recently launched their new range of epilators.
The new Philips Epilator comes in a pink box with all the attachments. Other than the Epilation head there is a shaving head and sensitive cap for epilation of the delicate areas like underarms and bikini.
What I like?
- Hassle free and travel friendly.
- Very compact, portable and lightweight.
- Washable epliation head for easy cleaning and hygiene. You can either use the cleaning brush or wash it under flowing water.
What I didn't like?
- It cant be used in the shower and on wet skin but guess that is not a problem. However there are other models which can be used on wet skin as well. You can also dab some loose powder for effective hair removal.
- It requires electricity to run but there are other models which are battery operated.

Myths and My Verdict:
- It is not really painful. I know everyone has a different pain threshold but it was very tolerable for me. In my opinion, nothing can beat the painful threading of eye brows.
- There is no hard growth post the process.
- Do not fret about the side-effects as there are none. There might be minor redness which is completely normal and will subside over time.
- With this particular model you get shaving head as an attachment which works the best. The other epilation head leaves out the edges, being curved in shape and you need to use it multiple times.
- If you have been contemplating and nervous about this type of hair removal procedure then don't worry you can go for it without any second thoughts.
- It is good to stretch a skin little for effective epilation. Use aloe vera gel post the process of hair removal.
