Finally I hunker down to publish all the posts sitting in my drafts. I had a chance to cover the Blender’s Pride Fashion Tour 2012 Kolkata but sadly due to my exams I could not make the most of it. Also, to add fire to the woes I could not get proper seats. Anyway, there is nothing like spending an evening of fashion extravaganza amidst sparkling champagne, well known designers and glitterati.
The Blenders Pride Fashion Tour is a benchmark in the Indian fashion calendar. Currently in its 8th edition, it features Priyanka Chopra as the brand ambassador. Extending across 6 cities, it is showcasing 13 of India’s finest designers from 15th Sept - 3rd Nov , making it the biggest tour yet.
On September 22 and September 23, BPFT2012 came to Kolkata. It’s a pretty big stage where the best designers and models come together to set the style for the season. It was surely an interesting take on the silhouettes and cuts; a different interpretation and hues that come together with varied techniques. Out of all, my favorite was Nida Mahmood.
Nida Mahmood
Nida Mahmood’s collection, "Bombay Bun Maska” for Blender’s Pride Fashion Tour was resplendent. Stunning saris by Nida Mahmood epitomized art and whimsical styling. I heart her quirky designs in kaleidoscope of colors. The LED lights on the flowers glowing on the heads of models was another clever move. Bengali Beauty Raima Sen was the show-stopper for Nida. The bohemian inspired fusion look stole the show.

Shantanu and Nikhil
Shantanu and Nikhil unleashed all the drama on the ramp with their drool-worthy collection exhibiting romance and luxe. It was influenced by baroque eras and French boudoir.

Another Pick: Asmita Marwa
Collection that oozes “hippie chic” vibe with eclectic mix of colors, prints and batiks.
