Indian Travel Blog - Things to do in Bangalore, India

If you all know, I have studied in Bangalore for 4 years. I did my graduation from PESIT college and literally grew up there as I moved out of home. Bangalore taught me a lot and it was quite a task completing my Engineering course in Information Science amongst all the nerds.
Post my graduation I started my blog when social media was becoming mainstream and I always had an intriguing love for fashion. So, let me talk about this city where I grew up and where I experienced the South Indian culture. Just so you know (this is for all my international readers), India is diverse with a wide variety of cultures, religion and languages.

Fun Facts
- Bengaluru (also called Bangalore) is the capital of India's southern Karnataka state. The centre of India's high-tech industry, the city is also known for its parks. Former royal residences include 19th-century Bangalore Palace, modelled after England’s Windsor Castle, and Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace, an 18th-century teak structure.
- This cosmopolitan city is India's most progressive and developed cities, blessed with a benevolent climate and a burgeoning drinking, dining and shopping scene.

Accommodation
There are a plenty of accommodation options in Bangalore. Movenpick Hotel and Spa Bangalore is my go-to option which is a closest 5-star hotel to the Bangalore International Airport. It embodies Indian hospitality delivered with Swiss passion.
State-of-art rooftop gym along with the spa offers that ideal relaxation to break free. This hotel also offers a variety of dining experiences to choose from.

Fun Things to do in Bangalore
- A visit to Cubbon Park is a must. This well-maintained 120-hectare garden is in the heart of the city. The gardens encompass the red-painted gothic style State Central Library.
If you have more time and you are nature-lover, you could also visit Lalbagh Botanical Gardens. It is spread over 96 hectares of landscaped terrain, the expansive Lalbagh Botanical Gardens were laid out in 1760 by the famous ruler Hyder Ali. As well as amazing centuries-old trees it claims to have the world’s most diverse species of plants.

- Enjoy the local South Indian food. Some of the culinary delicacies are ragi roti, South-Indian thali, various varieties of rice and other breakfast options.
Visit MTR (Mavalli Tiffin Rooms) - A legendary name in South Indian comfort food, this super-popular eatery has had Bengaluru eating out of its hands since 1924. Head to the dining room upstairs, queue for a table, and then admire the images of southern beauties etched on a smoky glass as waiters bring you delicious idlis (fermented rice cakes) and dosas (savoury crêpes), capped by frothing filter coffee served in silverware.

- Reserve another day for the most well-known amusement park - Wonderla Bangalore. It is a leading amusement park designing and operating company in India headquartered near Bidadi, 28 kilometres from Bengaluru. It has 62 thrill-packed rides that include roller coasters, a Ferris wheel, water rides and virtual reality experiences to get that adrenalin rushing through your veins. A perfect destination to go with your family/friends for that magical experience.
Also, Wonderla Bangalore has attractions specially designed for children, and these are gentle yet unusual like a kiddies free fall ride. It also uses solar-heated water for all its pools during winter.

- Go bowling! A one of its kind entertainment concept in India, bluO is a concoction of bowling, world cuisine, live music and fun coming together. An ideal destination to bond, de-stress and rejuvenate. It is energetic, stylish and reflects the lifestyle and ideology of today’s youth.

- Make sure to include a weekend so you can enjoy the nightlife till late. You could visit Empire for the late night grub. I used to love their chicken dosas (savoury crêpes).
It's also a great city for mixing with locals in craft beer joints or quirky independent cafes. Some of the nifty places are Toit Brewpub, Olive Beach, Arbor Brewing Company, Vapour, etc. I recently visited Toast and loved it.

- Lastly, you can also take a stroll on Brigade road which is the Times Square of Bangalore. It is the most buzzing place.
