Culinary Marvels - European Union Restaurant Week - Tastes Of Europe

The European Union (EU) announced the launch of its ‘Restaurant Week’ last week. This was a part of its larger campaign ‘Tastes of Europe'. To popularise European cuisine, the EU encouraged consumers to sample an offering of its produce, dairy products and wines. The campaign brought together 10 fine dining restaurants across Mumbai that exclusively served European cuisine for a week.
The fine dining restaurants that were a part of the promotion include famous names spread across the city such as Olive Bar & Kitchen at Khar, Smoke House Deli at Bandra Kurla Complex, Salt Water Café at Churchgate, Indigo at Colaba, Olio Novotel Mumbai at Juhu Beach, Vetro at The Oberoi, Nariman Point, Maritime By San Lorenzo at Taj Land's End in Bandra, Prego at The Westin, Goregaon, Nido at Khar and Botticino at Trident,in the Bandra Kurla Complex.

Star Of The Evening - Snapper with broccoli and spinach
Oak ash chevre + citrus with passion fruit emulsion salad
House Spice Smoked Chicken + Five Spice Jus
Asparagus + grapes + toasted flaxseeds

There is nothing like savoring authentic European food at your favorite eatery. A great Friday evening at Smoke House Deli, BKC is all I could ask for to soothe my grumpy olfactory nerves.
A look through the menu revealed interesting salads, mains and drool-worthy desserts. The asparagus salad was interesting and gets it zing from the healthy flax seeds. The salad with fruit emulsion was a bit too sweet for my liking. However, I never thought fruit salads could be so good and innovative. The portions were decent enough as well.

Coming to the mains, the star of the evening was snapper with spinach and broccoli. It was one of the best dishes I have had lately. You could feel the goodness pervade your senses and it was as exciting as the menu had talked them up to be. I dont usually prefer a heavy carb meal in the night so we ordered house spice smoked chicken with five spice jus.

What I like?
Sumptuous food with high quality European ingredients.
My recommendations (Healthy picks aka Fit Food)
Asparagus + grapes + toasted flaxseed
Snapper with broccoli and spinach is to die for.

What I didn't like?
Practically nothing! It was a set menu and very well planned for the ones who don't care about calories and for the ones who can savor scrumptious food guilt free.

  2. Most of the times, I find authentic European food too bland for my desi taste-buds! However, the snapper looks enticing even to me!
