The
Exquisite Winter Barbeque at ITC Sonar, Kolkata
Just when you've had a hectic week all you want to do is soothe your frazzled nerves in a nice place and savor good food without compromising on your fitness regime. There is nothing like dining by the serene lily pond to soothe my grumpy olfactory nerves after a hectic day.
I was invited to relish the culinary delights at ITC Sonar, Kolkata. The succulent kebabs, grilled seafood and veggies were served on the table along with sparkling wine. You could feel the goodness pervade your senses. Later the Chef introduced us to the entire barbecue and we could not wait to dig into the spread.

It uplifts locational, regional and national sentiments. ITC Sonar also subscribes to the international traveler overwhelming him with its architectural statements.
Yet,
at the kernel of ITC Sonar is food. Food
has been a long standing friend of Bengal, it has also been the soul
of ITC Hotels’ , whose food brands, such as Dum Pukht offering the
Grand Cuisine of India and Peshawri presenting the Robust Flavors of
North West Frontier has become little signatures on lips around the
world. ITC Sonar features the finest restaurants that Kolkata
deserves. Peshawri rated the World’s finest Indian restaurant
cajoles with its Kebabs. Dum Pukht the last word in dum baffles with
its Biryanis and brings to the forefront the Grand cuisine of India.
West View
Bar & Grill – Kolkata’s only dedicated fine-dining restaurant
for Western grills now has a slew of offerings to provide gourmets in
the city a truly international gastronomic experience. The
Eden Pavilion, a bat up to Eden Gardens redefine the classic Coffee
Shop, while Pan Asian presents the Flavours of East Asia.
The Exquisite Winter Barbecue
You can relax
by the gentle lapping waters at Eden Pavilion Lawns (The

Shop)
under
the starlit sky and indulge your palate with a lavish spread of
succulent grills of meats, seafood and vegetables marinated with
exotic spices, barbecued to perfection and served with just the right
accompaniments.
Walk
in every evening 7:30 pm onwards to savour culinary masterpieces from
the grill including shawarma, harleem, roast leg of Lamb, kebabs,
grilled seafood and vegetables, to name a few paired with a selection
of wines, whiskies and cocktails.
The
Winter Barbecue at ITC Sonar is unique as the ambience provides an unparalleled sigree warm setting. The hotel pays tribute to the beauty
of Bengal through its landscaped fish filled water gardens full of
exotic lilies. (Water is the
very being of Bengal. Its food, fish comes from it. Love blossoms
around the lakes. Even Goddesses are given fond farewells in the
waters. Inspired by this, ITC Sonar consists of several reshaped
water bodies that serve as the heart of the Hotel) Being
rooted to the soil, one often relates it to be a baganbari
(farmhouses owned
by Zamindars or feudal landowners of yore).
The
winter barbecue is an extension of this offering, an annual feature
it provides the gracious Bradralok to entertain or spend quality time
with his friends and family over a meal.
Verdict
Highly recommended! There is nothing like spending an evening with sumptuous food by the Lily Pond. The food is divine and I cannot stop raving about it ever since. It has been perhaps, one of the best experiences in Kolkata.
