Culinary Delights - The Winter Feast at Punjab Grill

This is my first post from the city of Mumbai and at the moment everything seems topsy turvy. Hectic work and relocating to a new city is a Herculean task. However, I received a warm welcome from the people around and I was quite overwhelmed to be invited for the inauguration of the winter menu at Punjab Grill in Mumbai.

Punjab Grill, the specialty Indian fine dine restaurant by Lite Bite Foods is now presenting an All New Winter Special Menu at Punjab Grill, Juhu Shopping Centre, Gulmohar Cross Road, Vile Parle West.
Dig in to the Punjabi flavours this winter with Punjab Grill’s scrumptious recipes for a perfect meal! Inspired by age old traditional recipes and infused with a myriad spices, one can choose from an array of vegetarian and non vegetarian signature dishes created by Chef Gurpreet Singh.

Celebrating the nostalgic aromas and unforgettable earthen flavours reminiscent of winters in North India, the highlight of this season is the essence of the natural flavours “Kaali Gajar Kaanji” - a matured tangy black carrot juice, “Shakarkandi Kamrakh ki Chaat”which is apple wood smoked sweet potato and star fruit tossed in sweet and sour tamarind and “Kharode ka Shorba”- gently simmered lamb trotter soup tempered with fenugreek and “Chukandar ke Kebab”- crisp beetroot kebabs, hung curd and pine nut stuffing to begin  your culinary journey with.
The main course is equally royal with repast options like  “Methi Chicken Tikka- Char grilled Chicken tikka infused with fresh fenugreek, “Bheja Massala”- sautéed lamb brain with freshly roasted garam masalas, “Sarson da Saag (Rs. with “Makkai Tava Roti”“Bahurangi Biryani”basmati rice cooked on dum with winter vegetables.
Not to miss the special PUNJAB GRILL DEG “HOT POT” – a Punjab Grill signature Hot Pot with mutton kofta, mutton jus, and winter vegetables.
To pamper your sweet tooth, relish the  “Gurh Wale Chawal”jaggery sweetened basmati flavoured with black cardamom; fennel coconut chips, homemade vanilla ice creamand “Bajre ki Choori”- Grandma Style pearl millet roti and jcrumble lotus seeds and chiroli nuts.

According to Chef Gurpreet Singh, Brand Chef, Punjab Grill, “The exuberance of flavours from the state has been brought forth in a variety, with an ability to transport and bring back memories of childhood. Keeping the forgotten culinary treasures from the region of Punjab, I have created this special winter menu.”

Verdict:

It is great to soothe your grumpy olfactory nerves with some desi food which is a concoction of varied flavors from all across the globe. It is an interesting take on fusion food keeping in mind the desi food of India.
The ambience and the perfect weather takes away all the brownie points.

What I like?
I usually look for healthy options while dining out. I could not get enough of chicken and the sweet potato.
I love the way the dishes were globalized with an eclectic mix of ingredients and assorted varieties.

What I didn’t like?
I didn’t really like some of the dishes like sarson ka saag which is supposed to be authentic. May be, I had a lot of expectations.

Must-Try:
- Methi chicken tikka
- Char grilled chicken tikka infused with fresh fenugreek
- Shakarkandi Kamrakh Ki Chaat (Apple wood smoked sweet potato and star fruit tossed in sweet and sour tamarind)
