Korean Cultural Meet and Korean Delicacies

Korean Cultural Meet and Korean Delicacies

Last weekend, I was invited to attend the Korean cultural meet and try the Korean delicacies. India-Korea Cultural dialogue celebrated the association between the Jagran Film Festival and the Korean Cultural Centre on June 28, 2013 at the Korean Cultural Centre, Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi.

India’s one of the leading media houses, Jagran Group and Korean Culture Centre India have come forward to celebrate the 40th anniversary of India-Korea diplomatic ties. This friendship between India and Korea dates back to ancient times of the celestial marriage between Princess Heo of Ayodhya and King Suro of Gaya, an ancient Korean kingdom.
Association between Jagran group’s flagship event property Jagran Film Festival and Korean Cultural Centre to create culture exchange through films is a humble endeavor to recreate the magic of the by-gone era. This little step aspires to strengthen the bonds between two great cultures. Jagran Film Festival reaches out to 16 cities across 7 states and people from in vast geography will get introduced to the great Korean Culture through cinema.

Mr. Kim Kum Pyong, Director Korean Cultural Centre India, expressed his pleasure to get associated with Jagran Film Festival.

The fourth edition of the Jagran film festival, a traveling film festival is set to cover several Indian cities.
The Film festival kicks of at Siri Fort auditorium, New Delhi and it will end on October 5, 2013 in Mumbai.
In Delhi, the film festival would go on till July 9 and will move to other cities thereafter.

Korean Cuisine

There is a scarcity of Korean restaurants in Delhi and I was overwhelmed when I got to try amazing korean delicacies. Icing on the cake is they are made with less oil. I got to try the following dishes but you can order according to your taste if you prefer spicy and dishes with strong flavor like glass noodles, kimchi salad, etc.

Chicken soup
Chicken soup was simple and bland. They did not skimp on the chicken. It is the perfect dish for the health freaks.

Bi Bim Bab
Steamed rice and exotic variety of boiled vegetables is food for soul.

Red Bean Bingsoo
The dessert was tempting. Sweetened kidney beans, vanilla ice cream and fruits served in crushed ice was out of the world.

However, many people do not have a taste for authentic Korean food. So it all depends on personal preferences.

There will be several exhibitions, fils festivals, calligraphy exhibitions, music workshops, competitions, contests and classes in Taekwondo and Korean language course. Taekwondo is an ancient Koral martial art
Check and visit the official website and Facebook page of the Korean Cultural Centre for the date and schedule.
