Heads up Food Buffs - Times City Gourmet Week offers Culinary Delights
There is nothing like dining at a plush restaurant to soothe my grumpy olfactory nerves after hectic day. I had been looking forward to visit Setz as it was the Times Food and Nightlife Awards 2012 Winner for being the best Japanese restaurant and the best Multi-Cuisine Restaurant from a long time.
Thanks to Times City Gourmet week (15th — 21st July) for offering such interesting choices and bringing out great initiatives across the major cities in India.
It was an exhilarating experience at Setz, formerly known as Zest at DLF Emporio Mall, New Delhi. If you came across my Facebook and Twitter updates I have been frantically updating about this place and could not wait to dish out this review.
Setz has a modern decor with contemporary touch with antique barrels and lampshades on a tripod. The place was thronged with crowd even on a weekday. This four year old restaurant has maintained its luxe ambience and sumptuous food without any flaws.
The menu is kept as seamless as possible. We ordered greek salad comprising of pepper, plum tomato, kalamata olives, oregano, extra virgin oil, crumbled feta. I am not really fond of the oriental cuisine but we ordered a som tam salad made of green papaya, carrots and long salad beans.
Our main course included European cuisine for a protein packed meal. The waft of Herb roast chicken with whole garlic, thyme and red wine jus was enough to entice me. Red wine jus was dark and thick that made the well cooked chicken with steam greens more delicious.
The parsley crusted sea bass fillet with spinach and pommery mustard cream sauce that my friend ordered was amazing. It is surely an interesting combination and quite filling.
The dessert platter included mango sorbet, napoleon pastry, New York style cheese cake. Although mango sorbet didn’t live up to our expectations but they did full justice to the napoleon pastry that had different crusty layers.
To sum it up it was indeed a quiet evening with a pleasant dining experience. The staff was really warm and welcoming who made us savor each and every moment. Food for the soul!
