Culinary Marvels at Cafe Ludus

Culinary Marvels at Cafe Ludus
Just when you have had a hectic week all you want to do is soothe your frazzled nerves in a nice place and savor good food without compromising on your fitness regime. We walked into Cafe Ludus on Friday night situated in a deserted mall.

Cafe Ludus offers exclusivity in terms of ambience, food and drinks. With a focus on creating a cafe which captures nostalgia of school life and reinventing how Delhi looks at food and beverage. It is interesting the way cafe has been divided into various elements along the lines of a Laboratory, a library, a cafeteria and an amphitheatre.

The cafe has been furnished with the best technology and interesting games and paraphernalia for some amazing party tricks. A library stocked with amazing photo books and some out of the world drinking apparatus. The lighting at the cafe is controlled by an Apple platform and a sound system has been imported from UK. There has been no compromise in keeping the ambience suave and moving to the carefully programmed beats.

The panorama of the cafe is breathtaking. Fancy decor. Interesting food choices. The multi cuisine menu includes variety of Mediterranean and European delights for a delectable taste ranging from soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers to desserts.

We ordered some starters in the outdoor seating area. Sumptuous food and a glass of red wine was enough to mellow out. We loved Chicken Saulaki with tartar sauce. Hot Chicks Brochette (thin chicken slices marinated in piri piri sauce) was not as exciting as the menu had talked them up to be. Whenever I am dining out I usually go for fish or chicken for a protein packed meal that is healthy and does not sabotage my workout.

However, sitting outside is not really a good option in Delhi. But am sure it would be great lounging around in the enchanting outdoor area during winters. We ordered our main course inside and the thumping beats of the music got us on the dance floor. The fish drizzled with lemon garlic sauce was up to the mark. One might need to sprinkle the seasoning on fish to give it some zing. Ludus chicken was succulent and cooked to perfection. They did justice with the proportions and without skimping on the ingredients. My friend ordered some steamed rice along with the main course.

The clock chimed 1 AM and we had to leave the place. We left with a happy tummy which had no room for desserts.

Cafe Ludus is just a year old and was not really thronged with people. The place has a lot of potential to be outstanding and I believe many people are not aware of it.

Ludus Chicken (grilled chicken piece served with mashed potato in Jamaican jerk sauce)
Combodian Basa (pan served basa served with potato quenelles)
Extra grilled veggies
Chicken Saulaki (grilled shredded chicken wrap)
Hot Chicks Brochette (thin chicken slices marinated in piri piri sauce)

VerdictA perfect place to unwind. Be it with good music, a cup of coffee, a glass of sparkling wine or divine food for the gourmands.

What I like?
- Ludus chicken and the Cambodian fish.
- Lounge with dance floor cum cafe that serves alcohol and coffee
- Perfect ambience due to indoor and outdoor seating
- Generosity of the staff

What I didn’t like? The outdoor lounge is not really a good option during monsoons when the humidity is at its peak.
