Indian Fashion Blog - Indian Designer Mithi Kalra's Outfit
Young Indian designers are coming up with incredible ideas. And it’s not just limited to concepts. They are proving so through the execution of their ideas. Mithi Kalra, an Indian fashion designer who is recent pass out from the National Institute of Fashion Technology has recently showcased her collection at the India Runway Week.
Mithi's exhibit named 'The Indian Disney Story', speaks for itself. Dresses, gowns suited for a Princess, based on the traditional art of Madhubani, hand embroidered on pure silks and organza. The collection wonderfully combines the grace of a bygone era, with the modern day fashion. Madhubani painting is practised in Bihar. Painting is done with fingers, twigs, brushes, nib-pens, and matchsticks, using natural dyes and pigments, and is characterised by eye-catching geometrical patterns.
So how did the idea came to Mithi?
“Disney is every childs dream…every girl relates to Disney and its princesses and imagines oneself in some or the other story. I was inspired from the art form of madhubani from a very early age in my life so I thought why not combine best from both the worlds,” said Mithi.
I am glad I got hands on this interesting outfit from the collection. Mithi is based out of Delhi and one of the eminent young designers. I love how this outfit exudes elegance with a hint of sexiness. The intricate work on the off-shoulder top takes the outfit to the whole new level. Do check out rest of her collection. I just kept the entire look minimal with only maang tikka (aka head gear) as an accessory. I hope you like it.
