Indian Fashion Blog: Travel Diaries - Bentota, Srilanka

Alright, continuing here with my Srilanka series in this post. In fact, this was the best part of the trip where we rejuvenated and enjoyed the pristine beaches and vast oceans. Bentota is a quiet place and is perfect to unwind and enjoy the culinary marvels and golden beaches.

Accommodation:
We stayed at Vivanta by Taj in Bentota, Srilanka. This 4-star property is a great beach resort with a lot of amenities, fun activities and gastronomical fare.
We also stayed in The Surf hotel, Bentota to experience a different property. Check out my review here.

All the pictures above are taken at The Saman Villas, Bentota.

Things to do aka Culinary Escapades:
The hotels here are like something from a dream.
- Well, one of the best experiences for me was a hearty meal with a breathtaking view at Saman Villas in Bentota. You can view my review here on Tripadvisor as well. V and I discovered all the lavish properties nearby and explored the culinary escapades. We have a common love for exploring finer things in life.
We had checked Saman Villas property when we were looking for accommodation and it seemed really overpriced. However, to explore we went there for scrumptious lunch. We got a chance to look at the rooms since we were planning to extend our stay. The rooms were old, shabby and really depressing. However, the view is breathtakingly gorgeous with the infinity pool and pristine ocean overlooking the Bentota beach. The fitness centre was very old and not maintained as well. Hence, it is not really worth it. One must go there for the views, exceptional service and food.

- Another night we had a dinner at Centara Ceysands Resort & Spa Sri Lanka which is another top-rated property in Bentota, Srilanka with Bentota river on one side and Indian ocean on the other. This luxurious retreat offers dreamy sunset views, pool overlooking the beach and well-equipped fitness centre. The resort is accessed by a short boat ride across the lagoon from a departure point a few minutes to Aluthgama station, and river and ocean boat trips are a major attraction. It is surely an arbiter of soulful luxury.
We had a great meal here which was buzzing with a lot of tourists from all across the globe. We just took a long stroll from our Taj hotel to this resort for the dinner.

The Surf Hotel is another luxurious property in Bentota. We stayed here for a night as mentioned above. The rooms are great with surreal ocean views although there are not many additional amenities.

Travelling tips:
I have shared most of my travelling tips for the Srilanka trip in my previous post. Do check it out here.
If you have more days, you can also add Galle and Mirissa beach in your itinerary. A lot of people also go to Kandy for wildlife and history. There is an elephant orphanage there too. For me, it was all about luxury travel, rejuvenation and pampering myself. And we flew back to Mumbai from Colombo richer in moments and memories.

Getting there: It is very easy to reach Bentota in Srilanka. You get a lot of cabs from Colombo. We got it from the airport in Colombo as the driver offered to take us to Bentota the next day. It is only 2.5 hours drive and I would recommend booking a cab or you could look for train options as well if you are on a budget travel.
