Banish
your budget blues
There’s
no disputing the fact that these are financially trying times. For
some, the current economic climate may be a daily battle for
survival. For those at a safer distance, it may just be a storm to
be weathered. Whatever your particular financial situation, there’s
no denying we could all use a little help to drag us out of the
doldrums.
For
many women, there is a great deal to be said for the myriad benefits
of retail therapy. This concept champions the healing power of
purchases. We all know that financial transactions are not a true
substitute for emotional well-being, but if you are in the enviable
position of having a budget surplus rather than a deficit, why not
treat yourself a little now and then?
After
all, there’s nothing quite like the instant pick-me-up pleasure of
a little shopping, is there? If you are on a strict budget, there may
still be options available to you. Many home shopping directories
offer
a buy now pay later option,
which can be a real help when used responsibly.
Try to
avoid impulse buys. Browse the net or peruse your favourite
catalogue, then give yourself a cooling-off period, just to make sure
that you really do require that must-have item. The last thing you
want is to waste your hard-earned cash on a one-hit wonder that will
simply be relegated to the back of your wardrobe after one or two
misguided outings.
And
whilst we’re on the subject, one man’s trash really can be
another man’s treasure. Why not dig out those unwanted and unloved
garments, and try to sell them via an online auction site? The sale
could free you up for some guilt-free spending with the unexpected
proceeds.
If you
don’t particularly wish to profit from ridding yourself of any
unloved items, you could also donate your unwanted clothes to
charity. Dig out those garments relegated to the back of your
wardrobe, take them along to a charity shop, and do something that
will make you feel good.
Of
course, having a good clear out should also leave you with lots of
extra space in your wardrobe. The perfect excuse, if ever one was
needed, to arrange a new shopping trip.
